Photo-Vision from Vietnam
Captions and photos by Dawn Kish
Dawn Kish is one of those rare photographers whose work crosses the boundaries of photography, art, and vision. Her images first appeared in snowboarding magazines where she often shot action sports photos of women snowboarders and unique portraitures of action sports heroes and artists. Dawn was also the founding creative director of W.i.g. Magazine, which she helped shape through her vision, style, and art. Her logo designs (including the W.i.g. "batman" font), images, graphic designs, and layouts were pure originals and caught international acclaim from music, sports, and art design publications, including Communication Arts and National Geographic Adventure Magazine. Her work in Black & White has also been showcased with Juice Designs in San Francisco, in Flagstaff, Arizona, and New York. Here, she captures the culture of Vietnam in her own very expressive and provocative style.-K.G.

Streets of Saigon
This is the perfect image of the streets of Saigon...the people in traffic are
in a rush and so clustered you can barely breath from the exhaust...it's like
a beautiful chaos...but you can still get a smile out of them

Fishing Basket
How do you get to the bigger fishing boats? Well you hop in a basket.

Playing at the Beach
I asked a young woman if she wanted to go to the beach...she said she could
not go because of school and has never seen the ocean...so i brought her a
big beautiful shell...this nation is so poor. The Vietnamese are not as lucky
to go to places we take for granted.

Smoking Fisherman
The people are so friendly and want to invite you into their homes...bring
you gifts and tea...when really they have nothing but give you so much...the
children like to follow you and are delighted by your words and actions...the
curiousity grows between us...learning together.
