Badly Drawn Boy - The Hour of Bewilderbeast (XL-Recordings/Beggars Group)
British boy wonder Dave Gough a.k.a. Badly Drawn Boy is the genius behind the musical melodies that will intrigue you as well as delight you on this CD. The song "The Shining" was used in a Gap commercial (oh my!) so I guess they've already received the corporate "thumbs-up" as alt/rock/youth culture leaders and I would guess that Gough couldn't
care any less. Listen to this CD and you will realize that the songs
will only get better with repeated listenings which I've always thought
was the standard for good music. Not all accessible at once. Work a
little to reap the rewards. Just like the soundtrack to Jesus Christ
Superstar (I'm kidding.) I really like this CD so it gets my little
thumbprint of approval. L.O.
