Bottom's bad-ass metal shakes down the Ladies Lounge

"Hi, we're Bottom. Fuck-you," starts off lead-singer, Sina, at the start of Bottom's set on the Vans Warped Tour. While 3-chord punk played all around, Bottom busted darkly. One of the few heavy metal bands on the tour-and one of even fewer girl-bands--Bottom's sets always attracted a solid gathering. At Asbury Park in New Jersey, Henry Rollins watched, arms folded across his massive chest, nodding his head with approval. Bottom's presence is so demanding, you get sucked into the vortex of their heavy riffs if you're anywhere even near their stage.

It goes like this: Bottom's on Man's Ruin Records and has a second album out called "Bottom-Feels So Good When You're Gone" with song titles like, Hell of a Life, Forever Gone, X on your Head, Got Meth, and AngerMeister, among others. They played most of the dates on the Vans Warped Tour in the Ladies Lounge, often double-billing themselves with a second performance at a local club each night. They lived in their van and drove to each show every night behind the plush Warped Tour buses. They weren't on the mainstages (although they're easily on par with Betty Blowtorch, which did get main-stage billing for a couple of shows), but still drew larger and larger audiences the closer they got to their home, New York City.

Bottom plays metal loudly without being distorted and deliver each show with in-your-face, powerful music. They are not afraid, throw lots of hair swings, and play with high energy, soul, and loud bass, which, mixed with good rhythm, keeps the thunder rolling.

After seeing them perform more than a dozen times, I was afraid their CD may not match their live performances. But I was not disappointed. With the resurgence of metal, Bottom should rock well into this new century. For more info on Bottom check out there website www.bottommusic.com.
