Sade - Lovers Rock (Epic, Sony Music)
She waited 8 years and then released this CD at the end of 2000, while
her fans were caught up in Y2k fear and hoarding. So maybe they missed
it and now they need to listen once again to the beautiful music and
inner sentiments of Nigerian/British diva, Sade, who is also beautiful
on the outside as well. She is not Enya, so stop saying that you
naysayers out there. She is a goddess and even if this CD is not as
strong as Love Deluxe (1992), some of the songs will stick in your mind
and you will hum them as you mow your lawn or snowboard down a long
powder run through the trees like I did recently. I would not have known
about this release if my friend Jennifer (who loves all kinds of music
and sings jazz at night clubs) hadn't clued me in. So now I'm cluing you
in. The song "Every Word" breaks my heart every time I hear it and "The
Sweetest Gift" is like a little prayer you might whisper to the moon
every night when you close your eyes. L.O.
